Drew Miller a Red Wing

Per Lightning Strikes, the Wings have picked up Drew Miller, brother of strange looking Sabers goaltender Ryan Miller, off waivers.  Miller is listed at 6'2 and 178 lbs. He has 6 goals and 15 points in in 67 games played in Anaheim and Tampa Bay. Miller also had 86 points in three years as a Michigan State Spartan.

Good depth signing. He'll be available to play, should the Red Wings choose, tomorrow vs. the Vancouver Canucks. He was pointless and a -4 rating for the Lightning thus far in 2009-2010.

Cool I guess.

I'm heading to a meeting with the BJ's legal counsel and then throwing on a Wings jersey and will be at the game tonight, hopefully making Jacket fans cry.  Eat that Drew, I'll be at a game you won't be for once.  Anyone else going to be there?

Go Wings!

  1. I LOVE this blog! First place I come before and after games, check it daily. What do you think about the red wings picking up people? There has been some talk about Giguere going to the wings but his salary cap won't allow it right? You have my thinking "goalie" after you said it was Ryan Miller's brother!

  2. Regardless of Gary's Cap space, signing Giguere would be giving Osgood a vote of no confidence...which I'm not willing to do given his last two play-off appearences. Now, having said that, with all of the cap room we'll have next year, we'll see how this year turns out. Picking up an expensive back-up who doesn't want to be part of your organization would be a gift to Anaheim, no matter how well Giggy has done in the past. You can bet your bottom dollar that the price would have to be right for Kenny to pick up that contract.

  3. While I share Teddy's zeal for the blog, I couldn't disagree more with the idea of Giguere on the Wings. We would never sign Giguere; he's washed up and expensive. In fact we won't see another #1 goalie until Ozzie decides it should be so.

  4. I am going to the game! Leaving in a few mins since we live in Cincy, but I'm always stoked when the Wings come to C-Bus.

  5. Yeah I didn't think there was too much stock in those Giguere rumblings. It's fun to fantasize about who could go where though. What about Biron? Is there any backing to Biron being brought in?

  6. Biron is with the isles. When DiPietro returns Biron is the odd one out. Roloson has the inside track to stay in New York right now. When DiPietro returns watch for the isles to use him for trade bait.

If they're using him as trade bait, then no there really isn't any chance he will be brought in. Besides, Ozzie has taken us to the Stanley Cup Finals two years in a row, so we don't need another goalie right now.

  7. Is it just me or does Ryan Miller have uneven eyes? Drew Miller has it just slightly...

  8. Ryan Miller knows too much about your mother.
