Back in Business

Alright, like the title states...I'm back in business and thankfully, so are the Wings.

The games in Sweden had me pretty angry and depressed, plus the work load that piled up during my absence and some blogging business (more on that later) kept me from posting until today. Guess what? It's freakin' Friday, the Wings beat the Hawks (again) last night and I'm in a damn good mood.

--------------------------------------------------
So I was sitting in on a conference call when my buddy sends me a message saying that he has a (free) ticket for me for last night's game. Luckily, the afternoon staff meeting didn't run too long and I had time to run home, eat, and meet up with him to drive down to the game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And what a roller coaster that game turned out to be. A real rough start. The Hawks were keeping control of the puck in our end, they were out shooting us badly, sloppy passes by the Wings lead to giveaways, the game was getting ugly. The one thing that kept us tied going into the second: Chris motherf@#$ing Osgood. After a dog turd of a performance last Friday in Stockholm, Osgood returned to form last night.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Hawks scored on a total miscommunication between a tired Zetterberg who was caught out there on an icing call and a bad decision to pass up the middle by Holmstrom and on a powerplay that was really like a two man advantage since Ericsson was visibly hurt blocking another puck.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
King Lidas' goal wasn't a thing of legend, but I remain certain that Hank (who he was trying to pass to anyway) would have buried it if not for that fortuitous bounce. And what? Draper with a wicked snipe? You bet your sweet bippy. And of course, Franzen cleaning up the garbage caused by Holmstrom in front. It's about time, Mule.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Out shot? Who cares. How many times do we lose games where we have more shots? A win is a win. We needed those two points I needed those two points. Dropping three straight to divisional rivals to start the season would have been unacceptable. But thankfully, we don't need to worry about that anymore. Now all we have to do is worry about #8 on Washington coming to town tomorrow. I'll be there.
Damn, it feels good to write Wings stuff again.
