Season so Far: Jason Williams

Well, no games until Thursday and news will probably be slow so I thought we'd take some time this week to review some of our new additions and see how they are fairing so far...

Jason Williams so far this season:
7GP
1G-4A-5Pts

I figure that this would be an easy one to start with. With few exceptions, I believe that J-Willz has exceeded expectations thus far (that was a lot of "ex" words in one sentence). Williams was brought in to help replace Mikael Samuelsson as the right-handed point shot on the 2nd PP unit and to help add some depth scoring. Though Williams has only one goal, a snipe from the point on the powerplay (more alliteration), he has done surprisingly well in keeping the puck while manning the blue line. Of course, there has been a few lapses in hustle/concentration, but that can be said for just about every single person on the squad thus far.

Season Total Projections:
82GP
12G-47A-59Pts

The "2 Finns and a Williams" line has been the best line for Detroit consistently. They have certainly helped push the Red Wings along in spite of losing Franzen long term and Datsyuk in the short term. Aside from not being able to understand his linemates, Williams has clicked remarkably well with his new Scandinavian buddies. Though I'd like to see his goals go up a bit, I must say I'm pretty satisfied with his output so far.

My grade after 7 games: B
